How The Virus Stole Christmas

Every person in Phoenix liked Christmas a lot…
But the virus named Covid apparently did not!
Covid hated Christmas! The whole Christmas season!
Now, please don’t ask why. No one quite knows the reason.

It could be, perhaps, that the crowds were too tight.
It could be as well that the leaders weren’t right.
But I think that the most likely reason of all,
May have been that Covid ramps up in the fall.

Whatever the reason,
whether it’s false or it’s true,
it was trying its best
to give everyone the flu.

“Tomorrow is Christmas! It’s practically here!”
It must do something to make it real clear …
It’s got an idea, what we need is more fear
So that Christmas wouldn’t be happening this year.

So Covid took to taking our cheer with more cases
That left not a smile on anyone’s faces.
It took from us all the gift of the heart
and did what it could to keep us apart.

But Christmas kept coming, its will not deterred,
Covid became a four letter word
It came with abundance it came with a clatter,
the Christmas season did not let it matter.

It HADN’T stopped Christmas from coming! IT CAME!
Somehow or other, it came just the same!
And Covid, with a vaccine that’s far too slow,
Stood puzzling and puzzling: “How could it be so?”

“It came in brown boxes! It came far apart!”
“But it came nonetheless with just as much heart!”
And it puzzled the virus, right down to its core.
Then Covid thought of something it hadn’t before!

“Maybe Christmas,” it thought,
“isn’t stopped by a spore.”
“Maybe Christmas…perhaps…
means a little bit more!”
